Recent announcements from Brighton & Hove Albion reveal a phased, multi-million-pound redevelopment of the American Express Stadium, not a single $1.3 billion renovation. The project, which is reported to be a £40 million investment (approximately $50 million), is focused on enhancing the fan experience and increasing capacity. The stadium is located in Falmer, Brighton and Hove, England, not Sunrise.
The phased approach to the stadium’s “Albionisation” includes several key features. A new, two-level fan zone called “The Terrace” has recently opened, offering a pre-turnstile sports bar experience with a capacity of up to 2,000 fans in warmer months, making it the largest of its kind in the Premier League. The club store is also being redeveloped to span two levels, and a new 1901 Club hospitality area will be added to the North Stand. This new hospitality space, set to open for the 2026/27 season, aims to boost the stadium’s total capacity to 32,500.
In addition, the club is introducing safe standing areas from the 2025-26 season, using “rail seating” that can be folded down for UEFA games. Plans also include relocating the away supporters’ section to the southwest corner by 2027.
