SO SAD:As confirm by the Sky Sports Rangers have SACKED Barry Ferguson few minutes ago

While reports from Sky Sports and other sources have confirmed Barry Ferguson’s departure, it’s important to clarify the situation. Barry Ferguson was not “sacked” in the traditional sense, but rather his tenure as interim head coach at Rangers has come to an end.

After Philippe Clement’s sacking in February, Ferguson, a Rangers legend, was appointed as interim head coach until the end of the 2024-2025 season. He took on the role with a coaching staff that included Neil McCann, Billy Dodds, and Allan McGregor. Their primary task was to see the team through to the end of the campaign while the club’s board, under a new American consortium, conducted a search for a permanent manager.

Ferguson’s time in charge saw a mixed bag of results. While he oversaw some positive performances and led the team in the latter stages of their European campaign, their domestic form did not see the significant improvement fans had hoped for. With the season now concluded, and after his final match in charge, a 2-2 draw with Hibernian, the club has confirmed that he will not be continuing in the head coach role.

Rangers’ chief executive Patrick Stewart has stated that the search for a new head coach is “progressing well” and they expect to conclude the process in the near future. While Ferguson’s short-term role has ended, he will remain at the club as an ambassador, a testament to his enduring legacy as a player and his commitment to the team. In a statement, Ferguson expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to manage the club he loves, calling it an “enormous honour.”Rangers’ chief executive Patrick Stewart has stated that the search for a new head coach is “progressing well” and they expect to conclude the process in the near future.
