Liverpool dealt devastating blow in contract negotiations

Liverpool dealt devastating blow in contract negotiations.

Liverpool should be celebrating being at the top of the Premier League table and a solid start to their Champions League campaign at this stage of the season. However, the club are battling headlines about the future of some of their biggest names on Merseyside.

The Reds are fighting rumours over the future of several of their top stars who have entered the final eight months of their contract at Anfield.

Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk are stalwarts of the Liverpool team who have won all the major trophies but the club are more than worried about Trent Alexander-Arnold.

The 26-year-old will be free to hold talks with clubs outside England from January onwards and Real Madrid will make a move for him then if he doesn’t sign a new contract.

Real Madrid are under the impression that he won’t sign a new contract with the Reds and are growing confident of taking him to the Santiago Bernabeu next summer on a free transfer.

According to CaughtOffSide, Liverpool have offered a big contract to Alexander-Arnold to consider and are pushing hard to hold on to him.

However, the update coming out of the player’s camp is not positive and he is nowhere close to signing a new deal with the Reds.

It is felt that there is now close to zero chance of the defender signing on the dotted lines of a new contract with the Merseyside giants.

There is an increasing likelihood that Alexander-Arnold will find it hard to turn down a move to Real Madrid next summer.

Liverpool would want to keep trying as losing a local boy at the peak of his powers would not be good optics for the club’s owners.

Real Madrid have identified Alexander-Arnold as their priority target and are growing confident of getting a deal done.

They have held positive talks with the player and his representatives and Real Madrid believe they have more or less received the green light from the player.

There has been talk of a move in January but the likely scenario is that he will move to Spain on a free transfer next summer.
