Celtic have until midnight on February 6 to submit an updated squad list for the Champions League.

Brendan Rodgers has the opportunity to tweak his 25-man squad for the latter stages of the competition after progressing beyond the league phase.

Celtic finished 21st in the revamped league phase of the competition meaning they will compete in the knockout play-off round where they will face Bayern Munich.

The end of the league phase also presents the first chance to change the Celtic squad – but only by a maximum of three players.

UEFA rules state clubs can make changes if they get through the league phase of the Champions League.

The 25-man squad limit remains in place as well as the need for locally trained players.

However, Roddgers can switch three players for the latter stages of the competition as per UEFA rules.

UEFA guidance on changing squad lists reads: “Yes, if they get through the league phase. Ahead of the knockout phase, clubs can register a maximum of three new players by 24:00 CET on 6 February 2025.

“Any or all of the players from the above quota of three may have been fielded for another club in the qualifying phase, play-offs or league phase of the Champions League, Europa League or Conference League.

“The overall limit of 25 players on List A remains, though, along with the quota of eight locally-trained players.”

Already, Celtic won’t have Stephen Welsh, Luis Palma and Kyogo Furuhashi in their new squad list after the trio completed moves in January.

That leaves room for new addition Jota to be added into the squad with a locally trained player required to replace Welsh.
