
At 32, Hürzeler is the youngest head coach in Premier League history and under his tutelage Brighton and Hove Albion have had a decent season – solid but not spectacular – with an FA Cup quarter final one of many positives to take, and a chance still to qualify for Europe next season. Today though, we get a glimpse of what might have been for Hürzeler, who began at Bayern Munich’s youth academy at the age of 10.
“In former times, when I was 16 or 17, it was my plan to be a model,” Hürzeler admits. “I did some photoshoots, but it turns out that no company really wanted to hire me. I had to accept that my body and face are not perfect for being a model.”
Instead the Swiss German, who is considered and friendly in his responses, was already a joint player/head coach by 2016 at lower league team FC Pipinsried.
