BREAKING NEWS:Dominic Calvert signs a huge deal with Newcastle United announced…
Dominic Calvert-Lewin struggled for Everton v Crystal Palace and Sean Dyche could drop him for the game against Newcastle.
The Toffees picked up a 2-1 victory against Crystal Palace on 28 September but the performance was far from impressive and they needed a spirited second-half display to get the job done.
They now host Newcastle on 5 October and Dyche may have no option but to drop his talisman.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin must be dropped for Everton v Newcastle
The English striker struggled in and out of possession against Palace and that’s generally how things have been for him this season.
According to Sofascore, he amassed an xG of 0.34 but failed to find the target with either of his two attempts on goal.
One of them was even categorised as a big chance and if he cannot be clinical in front of goal, there’s no point in continuing to start him.
He even struggled to get past his opponent as he failed to complete both of his attempted dribbles in the 90 minutes he was on the pitch.
What’s even more shocking is that he could complete only five passes all game with a pass accuracy of an abysmal 36 per cent.
Off the ball, he lost all five of his attempted ground duels and for someone who’s known to be solid in the air, he lost 50 per cent of his 14 attempted aerial duels.
Having lost possession on 16 occasions and found himself in an offside position twice, it’s clear that his head is not in the right place and it could be down to doubts over his future at the club.
Iliman Ndiaye is capable of leading the line and should be tried there with Jack Harrison coming into the eleven.
In other Everton news, the players’ stance has emerged on wanting Sean Dyche to be sacked with Dan Friedkin set to seal the takeover.
