Real Madrid icon Sergio Ramos names Rangers favourite who ‘inspired him’ as his hero – but not only for his ability

SERGIO RAMOS has done it all during his 22-year professional career that is STILL going at the age of 38.

And the Spanish legend has revealed it was a former Rangers star who he looked up to growing up.

Just a few weeks shy of his 39th birthday, Ramos is now plying his trade out in Mexico.

Having been a free agent since the summer, the no-nonsense centre-back joined Monterrey last month and has already been appointed club captain.

Ramos spent 16 with Real Madrid between 2005 and 2021, winning five La Liga titles and four Champions Leagues as part of a huge haul of 22 major trophies.

He also played at four World Cups and three European Championships for Spain, winning both competitions.

Ramos is Spain’s most capped player having played 180 times for his country.

After leaving Real in 2021, Ramos spent two years with PSG where he won two Ligue 1 titles.

In between PSG and Monterrey, Ramos had a season with Sevilla.

That’s his home town club and where he began his professional career.

Ramos was in Sevilla’s youth system from the age of 10 in 1996 and broke into the first team as a teenager eight years later.

Now, he’s revealed his footballing idols when growing up.

And one of them is a former Rangers star!

Ramos took part in a quickfire questions Q&A on TikTok and he was asked who his favourite player was when he was growing up.
