Jose Mourinho tipped for Everton job after what he said – ‘Amazing call’Jose Mourinho has been tipped to be the next Everton manager with Sean Dyche’s contract expiring at the end of the season.
The Friedkin Group completed their takeover of the Merseyside club on Thursday (20 December) and speculation has already started about who could lead the Blues into their new chapter next season when they move to Bramley-Moore DockDarren Bent believes former Chelsea, Manchester United and Tottenham manager Mourinho could be someone who TFG looks at hiring after previously having him at Roma.
“I mentioned Jose because of the new stadium, going into it with big owners, slash… statement,” said Bent on talkSPORT on 19 December (04:26pm). “He spoke about wanting to come back to the Premier League as well.”
Andy Goldstein then said: “That’s such an amazing call.”Bent continued: “They’ve had big managers before. They’ve had Ancelotti, they’ve had Marco Silva.” Goldstein then pointed out Rafa Benitez. “They’ve had big managers so there’s no reason why all of a sudden they couldn’t have a fresh start, pop,” the ex-Tottenham striker added.Who will be the next Everton manager?
Dyche’s contract expires at the end of the season and given the fact that he’s hardly an attractive choice due to the brand of football he plays, it’ll be a shock to see TFG hand him a new deal.
It will be a shame to see the ex-Burnley boss leave the Toffees because he’s ultimately done a brilliant job at keeping a team in the Premier League that was pretty much doomed for the drop when they were docked points twice last season.
Dyche isn’t going to blow teams away with fantastic, entertaining football and neither is he going to get a lot of goals out of a team spearheaded by Dominic Calvert-Lewin.Big-name managers didn’t exactly work out during Farhad Moshiri’s reign in charge so why not take a more measured and calculated route instead of aiming for the stars?
