Newcastle United hovering to take another Brazilian from Lyon in €20-30m summer transfer

Newcastle United failed to sign Lyon goalkeeper Lucas Perri in the winter market.
That’s according to journalist Jorge Nicola, relayed by Fogão Net, and he reports that the Magpies are still in the picture for Perri.
Nicola claims Newcastle tried to bring the 27-year-old to St James’ Park in January. Lyon owner John Textor wasn’t keen to sanction a move and postponed his possible sale until the summer.
The Premier League club could make a fresh attempt for the Brazilian at the end of this season.
Eddie Howe has Nick Pope, Odysseas Vlachodimos, Martin Dúbravka, Mark Gillespie and John Ruddy as the five stoppers at his disposal and the latter three have contracts until June.
The journalist states the Magpies could ‘move forward in the negotiations’ to sign Perri in the summer. The Brazilian joined the Ligue 1 club from Botafogo last summer and signed a contract until 2028.
According to Nicola, the South American should cost around €20-30m in the next window.
Bolavip have also relayed his claims and add Perri could fulfil his ‘dream of playing in the Premier League’ if Newcastle were to sign him.
Perri kept nine clean sheets and conceded 34 goals from 28 matches for Lyon this season.
Bruno Guimarães moved from Lyon to Newcastle United in the January 2022 transfer window.
