Nottingham Forest’s £20m forgotten transfer issue in need of January solution
Back in the summer, a total of 30 players left Nottingham Forest before the window closed.
That total is made up of a mixture of those whose contracts expired, loanees who returned to their parent clubs and youngsters who headed out on temporary stints, as well as loan and permanent departures. It is quite a staggering number.
is a firm advocate of the benefits of working with a small squad. He doesn’t like to have too many players hanging around and not playing. He is keen for every member of the dressing room to believe they have a chance of featuring to some degree.
But one player who that definitely doesn’t apply to at the moment is Emmanuel Dennis. The attacker was left out of the Reds’ 25-man Premier League squad list for the first half of the campaign. Fans could be forgiven for forgetting the 27-year-old is still on the club’s books.
Forest do not have too many players kicking their heels at present. Dennis is one, and finding him a move elsewhere will be on the Reds’ January to-do list.
The length of Dennis’ contract was not disclosed when he put pen to paper at the City Ground in the summer of 2022. However, some reports have suggested his deal runs until 2026.
