Philippe Clement saviour emerges in Rangers B team showdown after what he did

Danilo may have emerged as a saviour for Philippe Clement after scoring for the Rangers B team in the SPFL Trust Trophy.

The Brazilian stepped up his recovery from injury by starting for David McCallum’s side in their SPFL Trust Trophy last 16 clash with Stenhousemuir on Tuesday (22 October) evening.

Danilo emerges as Philippe Clement saviour at Rangers

The Belgian tactician would have been delighted to see Danilo find the back of the net as the former Feyenoord man is the saviour he needs at the moment.

Clement is under increasing pressure after Rangers blew the chance to cut the gap with Celtic and Aberdeen to three points after losing 1-0 to Kilmarnock at Rugby Park on Sunday (20 October).

Cyriel Dessers’ performance, in particular, left a lot to be desired, with Billy Dodds lacing into the Nigeria international for his lack of intent.

It would not be wrong to say Rangers have missed Danilo sorely in recent weeks, with Dessers netting just thrice in 10 games in the Scottish Premiership and UEFA Europa League.

Danilo, meanwhile, has displayed his goalscoring prowess for both the first team and the B team. Despite being restricted to just 24 minutes of league football this season, he has one goal to his name and has now scored again for McCallum’s side upon returning from injury.

The striker’s first season at Ibrox after arriving from Feyenoord last year was marred by injuries. However, it is worth noting that he grabbed four goals and one assist in his 12 league appearances last term.

As we enter the busy festive period, Danilo’s return will be a huge boost for Clement as the Light Blues look to claw their way up the table.

Having seen his abilities in front of goal, the Rangers faithful will also be eager to welcome him back as soon as possible.
