Rangers American revolution can’t come quick enough and Philippe Clement WILL be a casualty

The American Revolution at Ibrox can’t come quick enough for Rangers. This is a club that needs the folk from the United States to fix this sorry state. There were stars and stripes flags in the crowd – while their team waved a white one.

Rangers stunk the place out once more but St Mirren were sensational as they claimed their first win at Ibrox in more than 34 years – to complete their first back-to-back victories over Gers in 45 years. The Buddies did a number on Philippe Clement and his side – with frontman Michael Mandron and Jonah Ayunga, and then sub Toyosi Olusanyna, completely bullying the backline, with two of the three hitting the net.

On a day when Celtic made a rare slip up and there was a chance to close the gap, Rangers were found wanting yet again. The moneymen behind the San Francisco 49ers must already know turning arounds the fortunes of this club will be no tea party. But some decisions will be easier than others.

There’s been plenty of suggestions about replacing Clement with a caretaker until the end of the season. Nah – Clement IS the caretaker. There’s no way the Belgian is going to be part of the new American dream.

Not when watching his Rangers side has become a total nightmare for fans. When the fourth official announced nine extra minutes at the end, the HOME fans booed. They wanted this over – and are crying out for a fresh start.

Clement simply couldn’t cope with St Mirren’s style and it’s clear he’s now minding the fort until the suits can sort out regime change in the background. Gers were absolutely woeful once more here – every bit as bad as they were against Queen’s Park a few weeks ago
